Kari Zastrow

Master Jazz/Lyrical Instructor

Kari ZastrowKari has studied dance for over 22 years and has been providing professional choreography and instruction for the last 10 years.

Kari started her dance education studying under the well known Michele Larkin of Larkin Dance Studio, in Maplewood, MN. Kari continued her training nationally moving from L.A. to Virginia studying under top names in the industry. Kari has performed all over the world touring various places such as Africa, Austria, Bosnia, Italy, Mexico and UAE. She was also featured as a lead dancer on two contracts with Stiletto Entertainment for Holland America Cruise Lines performing both Vegas and Broadway style shows. Kari also performed as a featured dancer for Legendary Superstars in New Mexico and for Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA.

Recently, Kari returned to Maryland to become a core dancer for Capitol Movement Project, a dance company based in Washington D.C., where she continues to train and study her love and passion for lyrical and contemporary style movement. Kari recently took over the title of Assistant Rehearsal Director of the Company due to her intense sense of cleaning and critiquing jazz and lyrical technique. In addition, Kari has taught master workshops around the D.C. Metro Area for the past several years. Kari also found the time to be on the sidelines at Redskins games as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader for the past several years.

With respect to individual awards, Kari won numerous awards throughout her years of competition. Most notably, she was awarded New York City Dance Alliance Dancer of the Year, dance scholarships from West Coast Dance Explosion, and a special award to receive master training at the Debby Reynolds Studio in L.A. As an instructor, Kari has won numerous awards for her jazz and lyrical choreography in Regional and National dance competitions. Kari has also been retained to provide professional dancers choreography for video resumes and technical training for professional jobs.

Savage Dance is very pleased to welcome Kari and her expertise to its staff this year. Kari is scheduled to be in at least 2 days per week to provide master instruction in the areas of jazz, lyrical, contemporary and LET (Leaps, Extensions and Turns). Kari will also be working and training intensively with SDC's Company and Performance Teams.
