Christina HellerBallet/Modern and Strength Training
Christina recently served as Artistic Director of the Dance Program at a dance company in Gaithersburg, MD. As artistic director, Christina developed her own curriculum of education while providing intensive technique training and choreography to dancers who successfully competed in Regional and National Competitions. Christina also has provided ballet training and creative movement instruction for primary age students. Christina has performed professionally with the Maryland Ballet at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, MD, the Central Maryland School of Ballet, and the Donetsk Ballet Company. Christina also furthered her education by attending dance camps and instruction seminars at the University of Southern Florida, the Donetsk Russian Seminar and the Kinetic Dance Theatre Workshop. In addition to her extensive ballet, pointe and modern background, Christina has also received master instruction under the direction of world-renowned dancers, such as Frank Hatchett, Joe Lanteri, Joe Tremaine, Gary Pate, Gus Giordano, Doug Caldwell, Jo Rowen, Debbie Dee, Charles Kelley and Rhonda Miller. Christina continues to attend and train in Regional and National Dance workshops and master classes each year, while also attending master classes and dance workshops in New York at Broadway Dance Center. As a competitor, Christina won several Regional and National Dance titles, as well as over 100 Regional and National Awards. In 1997, Christina was recognized by Gary Pate as Starpower's National Champion in Ballet, Pointe, Modern and Lyrical. In 1996, Christina was recognized as Eastern Dance Association Champion as well as being recognized as a Presidential Scholar in Dance nominee and as an Honorable Mention for Maryland Distinguished Scholar in Dance. More recently, Christina was a member of the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleading Team from 2001 to 2006, where she was recognized as the recipient of the Ravens' Team Charity Award in 2001, 2004 and 2005. Christina looks forward to bringing her vast experience and expertise to Savage Dance Company. Christina's areas of instruction at SDC in the fall will include ballet, pointe, modern, and composition. Christina will also provide choreography and intensive technique training for SDC’s 2007-2008 Regional and National Competition Team.

Christina has studied dance for over 25 years and been an instructor/choreographer for the past 13 years. Christina studied ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and composition under the instruction of Artistic Director Amanda Thom Woodson at Goucher College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001. Christina is also Certified with Merit to Level V of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
